The folks at Knight rifles ( 866-518-4181) said that the original hammer with the conical pointed firing pin is ok to use with the #11 and musket caps.Just because the tragic discharge happened after the 209 kit was installed, doesn't mean the kit caused the discharge. There are way too many other variables involved that have to be shown to be non-contributory in order to blame the conversion kit even a little.Knight brought out the musket cap conversion because they did not think the 209 conversion was good for the MK-85. They were not rated as a "Magnum MZ". And the 209's are pretty hot. I think the musket caps are about 3 times hotter than a standard percussion cap. I know they work great in my MK-85. I have a knight wolverine and it has been a great gun. It's an older one and I'm guessing it was built around 1997 or so, but it worked great. It was an inline with a number 11 percussion cap ignition originally, and I bought the conversion kit for it so I could shoot 209 primers. I'm using a TC Triumph right now, but the Wolverine worked great.
